The Year 7 Girls cricket team coached by Mrs Dehne won all of their four games at the semi-final of the T20 Blast in Melton and won through to the State final at the MCG. Sacred Heart Geelong, Baimbridge College Hamilton and Emmanuel College Warrnambool were the opponents in the round – robin with Megan Portwine taking a great catch in the last over to secure a ten run win over Baimbridge and excellent bowling from Charli Greiner and Bree Styles kept the opposition teams to low scores. In the final Hayley Campbell hit some impressive boundaries and captain Courtney Thompson and Charli Greiner smashed twenty-six off the final two overs to set Marion College Ararat a sizeable target of ninety runs to win. The girls defended brilliantly with Kasey Conder taking an important catch and Charli Greiner and Courtney Thompson bowling tightly in the last two overs to take the match by twenty-nine runs. It was very excited group of girls when it was announced that they would be playing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
