On the 31st of July the year 7 footballers travelled to Nathalia to compete in the SSV round robin football competition, which they were the eventual winners. The first games was against St Joseph’s Echuca, Tyreece Kerr was instrumental in setting the game up, he was relentless in the midfield and impacted the score board as well. Dylan Purbrick was dominant up forward taking a number of strong marks and finishing well. Rylan Johnson played really well in the ruck giving first use to Noah Langborne, Kyle Green and Max Hagan. Score: Echuca College 5.5.35 St Joseph’s 2.0.12
The second game was against St Mary’s Nathalia, it was a fierce battle between both teams. Again Tyreece Kerr was dominant controlling the ball through the midfield and finishing well again in front of goal. Cohen Olsen’s defence was exceptional laying a number of strong tackles. Ryan Simmons moved into the back line and was able to set up a number of plays forward, which ultimately kept St Mary’s scoreless in the second half. Score: Echuca College 2.5.17 St Mary’s 1.1.7
The last game for the day was against Kyabram which turned out to be our biggest win for the day. Ridley Gass was electric in the forward line, Dylan Purbrick again provided a good target in the forward line and handed off a number of goals. Montell Kerr, Noah Langborne, Maisyn Douglas and Kyle Green won plenty of the ball through the midfield and applied really strong defensive pressure. Score: Echuca College 9.3.57 Kyabram 0.0.0
The most pleasing aspect of the day was seeing the team work and sportsmanship all of the boys displayed. They always put the team first and displayed respect to other teams and umpires.
