Echuca College VETis Dance group presented the story of Salem at the 2014 Wakakirri State Finals at Hamer Hall in Melbourne after qualifying in previous rounds. The story depicts 1692 Salem, young girls conjuring witchcraft upon him capture the good Reverend in the forest. He escapes, only to be recaptured and brought into a ring of voodoo. Good triumphs and the witches are sentenced to death.
The group were nominated for a number of awards after a very impressive performance, the awards included Solo Acting, Lighting, Choreography, Storytelling, Concept and Amazing Moment. The team was successful in winning Awards Night Participant, Best Amazing Moment, Best Historical Story and Year 11 student Brenton King won the State award for the Best Lighting.
