The senior and intermediate badminton teams traveled to Kyabram for the day, where some teams found they only had to play one match for the day.
The senior boys played some warm up matches against Echuca College intermediate boys, finishing 4-4 but ahead by only 8 points, then played Kyabram for a practice match, which they won. Then came the match of the day – against Nathalia, which they won convincingly 6 sets to 2.Well done to Clayton Thompson, James Nettlefold, Jacob Baldock (MVP) and Nathan Vanzetta.
The intermediate boys had two matches in their comp, but only had to play one, when Nathalia forfeited after they defeated Kyabram. Our boys defeated Kyabram 6-2, well done to Kyle Accurso (MVP), Laurence Pontejos, Jordan Dalzeil, Matt Hilet and Justin Fleischer.
Our girls had to play a few more games, but found the opposition challenging on the day. The Senior girls lost both their matches – to Nathalia 3-5, and to Ky 2-6, finishing 3rd on the day. The team was Lily Wallace, Jess Wills, Jasmine Tindal, Emily Spence-Pollock (MVP) and Georgia McKeller.
The intermediate girls played three matches, losing to Nathalia 1-7, to Saint Augustines 3-5 and to Kyabram 3-5, also finishing 3rd on the day. The team was Annastasia Gadsden (MVP), Brooke South, Chloe Ludbey, Logan Jones and Jasmyn Avers.
Congratulations to all players who showed great teamwork and sportsmanship, representing Echuca College with pride and respect.
