Each year a group of Year 11 students complete a training program to support the transition of our Year 7 students. The Peer Support program is a peer led, skills based, experiential learning program, it empowers young people to support each other and contribute positively to society.
The program provides students with a supportive learning environment in which to develop the skills, understandings, attitudes and strategies to improve their mental, social and emotional wellbeing. It develops key skills in resilience, assertiveness, decision making, problem solving and leadership and utilises a whole school approach to support positive cultural change. The Peer Support program provides authentic leadership opportunities for Peer Leaders.
Our Year 7 students benefit from the program and the relationships they develop, the program benefits the students for the whole year and beyond. The students meet older students who become their mentors and role models throughout the year.
