Kelly Gould was announced as the winner of the 2017 Echuca Lions Club Youth of the Year at the Club Finals held at Radcliffe’s. Kelly attended an interview with the judging panel which addressed the categories of Leadership: School and community, Personality, Citizenship and community involvement, General knowledge, Academic, Sporting and/or cultural activities: school and community.
Kelly’s prepared speech addressed the issue of environmental preservation, she explained and detailed a number of renewable energy alternatives for the future. Kelly spoke about the challenges that faced her generation in regards to generating energy for the future. The impromptu questions addressed the areas of social media and renewable energy options.
The aim of the Lions Youth of the Year Quest is to foster, encourage and develop leadership and citizenship qualities in young people at the age when they are about to enter their chosen field or commence higher education.
Echuca College has a strong history in winning this event and this is the third year in a row our students have won, with Luke Judd winning in 2016 and Georgia Harris winning in 2015. Kelly has now qualified for Regional Final in Lockington and we wish her all the best.
