Year 10 student, Josh Watson has been at the College since Year 7, he was born with rod-cone dystrophy, a rare condition which means he has only had slight perception of light since birth. Josh confidently moves around the school with the use of his white cane which he has used since he was 18 months old.

Josh participates actively in all classes at Echuca College and the improvement in his mobility and confidence has been outstanding. Josh participated in a Guide Dog trial last year and was one of the youngest students ever to be given this opportunity. Josh is also involved in Guide Dogs Victoria’s Spy Kids program, the program is designed for younger students to develop their fundamental orientation and mobility skills. The program also gives older students the opportunity to act as mentors and further enhance their own skills.
