The Year 12 Health and Human Development class were lucky enough to have Sue Neale present to us about the HUG (Help Uganda Grow) not for profit organisation. Our students represented us perfectly asking great questions and showing genuine interest.
This valuable incursion has not only assisted the students in understanding the content for their final SAC but has also given them priceless life education. Thanks so much Sue! Perhaps we will have some Echuca College students visit in the future and also make a difference?
Thanks also to the many additional students and staff who supported HUG by purchasing bags, jewellery and calendars. All monies raised will be sent back to the jeweller who made it – assisting his/her future. The students loved hearing about ‘Zac’, a 17 year old boy who funds his own schooling via his bead/jewellery business as his family cannot afford the $30 per term tuition. We are aiming to fundraise/donate for a larger project in the Suubi village. Sue is going to contact the HUG organisers and the village to discover what essential, larger items are of need so that our students can hear immediately the difference they have made.
