On Tuesday evening, 12 November I was fortunate enough to attend the VET in Schools Excellence Awards at Moama Bowling Club. Finalists for Echuca College included Beau Harris and Alexander Graham (Building and Construction), Grace Shaw, Shyhan Dean, Samantha Williams and Billie Logie (Community Services), Jessica Zlateff (Hospitality), Tyler Cox and Katelyn Haitsma (Music) and Maddison Peters, Mitchell Berg, Luka Van De Zand and Callum Fish (Sport and Recreation). Also on display was our VET 1 Music group, entertaining the audience with renditions of great songs like ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele and ‘Crazy’ by Gnarls Barkly.
All finalists received a certificate recognising their outstanding achievements for 2019 in their VET subject and two students from Echuca College also won their individual category: Billie Logie and Mitchell Berg. I am delighted to be able to report that Mitchell Berg also took out the top honour for the evening, the Campaspe Cohuna LLEN Student of the Year.
Echuca College is proud of all students at the college and their achievements. Evenings such as this celebrate the hard work of our students and the fantastic support they get from all staff at the college. There were also many proud parents at the awards last night, which was great to see.
