Year 9 students visited the Theatre Arts precinct in Melbourne on Wednesday as part of a government program to give country students exposure to the arts. A guided tour of the different stage areas provided an insight into the amount of backstage work that goes into mounting a production. Students watching from a sound proof booth were thrilled to see the full Melbourne orchestra in practice. After a quick walk through Hosier Lane and other notable Melbourne street art sites the students watched a modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet in the Playhouse. The education officers praised the students and especially noted how well turned out they were in their school uniforms.
